A New Release

R. Ross Whalen • Dec 15, 2020
There’s nothing better than a New Release. Welcome back! I know, I have been gone for a little time as far as blogs are concerned. We here at The Pyrateheart Press have been quite busy. One of those items we have been busy with right down to the wire is the release of the second book in the Cheyenne Dances in Moonbeams series.

I personally love the character. She is a bit of a mess. Never quite what you’d expect in a heroine. She is most definitely one of those anti-hero types. Let me catch you up some on our Cheyenne.

Cheyenne Dances in Moonbeams makes her first appearance in the book The Trouble in Nunya. A set of stories really. In Nunya we see Cheyenne’s past collide with her present which ultimately changes her future. In a supernatural way.

Cheyenne possesses what she calls the “listening.” The ability to “listen” with not only her ears, but with all her senses. She can “hear” with the eyes of an owl. “Listen” with the nose of a hawk or “hear” the taste of the wind from a spruce tree. When Cheyenne “listens,” she can do so with every sense that we possess. But she can also listen with her heart, her mind, her soul, her sex, and her imagination.

Cheyenne categorizes her gift, one she attained by coming back from the dead, as three elements. Scans are when Cheyenne controls her gift. Where she can consciously “listen” to another person’s thoughts, hear with their ears, see with their eyes, and smell with their nose.

When her gift digs deeper, Cheyenne calls it singing. When Cheyenne uses her heart to listen, she hears the other person’s heart song. If Cheyenne listens with her heart or her soul or her sex or her imagination, she hears the other persons memories, their deepest desires, their life as a song.

However, like all things, there is a downside. When Cheyenne listens with her soul, ghosts appear. Cheyenne’s ability to listen with her soul opens doors into creatures she never knew existed. Opens her up to ghosts and spirits and stars and other entities.
Cheyenne doesn’t like her gift. She prefers to use the highly honed senses in her time living inside the wilderness.

In The Rescue of Rhonda, we see Cheyenne in the present as she confronts another one of her past operations. Cheyenne tells the story in flashbacks as she relives it. We find Cheyenne two years after the events of Nunya had come to a close.

She’d left Monique Brown, the F.B.I. powerhouse who’d recruited Cheyenne for her domestic super-secret undercover group and started doing her own ops. Freelance style. All while still working for the National Park Service as a Special Investigator.

Cheyenne is summoned to the Hoover building along with Brown, and two other members of Brown’s Seven. The seven people Brown recruited for her deep cover ultra-secret domestic anti-terror group. People so deep undercover nothing can be traced back to them when they save the world.

Only this time that is exactly what is on the line. Seems someone stole a flu virus so deadly there will be no survivors. Only thing is, is it the truth?

Cheyenne realizes right away she is a pawn in someone else’s game. A game so powerful it changes to the face of the bureaucracy of power inside America.

Come along with us as Cheyenne tells us the story of The Rescue of Rhonda. Listen in as her own story continues in the present. Both stories compelling you to flip the page until you arrive at the end looking for the next book.

I’m Ross, The Editor-in-Chief at the Pyrateheart Press and it is my pleasure to bring to you The Rescue of Rhonda. Now, I’m out.

Most people who tell others they are authors work independently from the requirements of corporations or even normal jobs. Their job is to create. To craft stories we want to read.

It’s a good question. One I have heard many times in my life. Usually after somebody does something no one approves of. Yet, regardless of the situation, the question remains the same. Do people change?

I have discovered many things recently. The very first is I love the bed and breakfast we stayed in for our anniversary. It is an inventive idea for a bed and breakfast type place. The rooms are actual cabooses. That’s right, railroad cabooses.
