November & Stuff

Yvonne Whalen • Nov 20, 2020
2020 has been an incredible and crazy year for most of us. Although, we have been busy, The Pyrateheart Press is chugging along and getting busier! October and going into November has been a busy transition for us, including eBook publications, new freelance clients and hosting a Writing Contest.

This last month we published two eBooks, Heirs of the Blood Queen in October. Heirs of the Blood Queen is a young adult read that is the first in a series with lots of twists, turns and supernatural adventures. Three siblings discover they are witches and have inherited magical powers that were unlocked when one of them read the words out loud. Now they must learn to use their powers, while searching for who murdered their mother.

The second book we published; this week is Gargoyle. This is a dark supernatural thriller. William, the 8th Lord of Danvers wanted his father’s inheritance. He was willing to do anything to secure his place in England. What he didn't anticipate was Nesta's mother, Rebecca to be a powerful witch that would enact revenge of the likes Lord William never dreamed of and his fate that would take him through the centuries.

One of the fun and interesting things we do is freelance work. We have several new clients where we are either ghost writing for them or taking their work and preparing it for publication on KDP/ Amazon or they are self-publishing on their sites. The best part to all of these is that we are in the mix of their success!

A job we’ve agreed to take on is a children’s motivational book. This is our first and it has been a fun project, thus far. It has also stretched our knowledge because we’ve had to research font styles and images and software that is geared specifically to kids’ publication. In accepting the children’s book project, this has opened us up to numerous possibilities. Stay tuned for more on this subject.

This year we decided to host a writing contest. This is really exciting for us and we are looking to making this an annual event for PHP. This year’s contest theme is Flash Fiction and Short Stories. The topic is taking an ordinary event and making it extra-ordinary. We are also giving out SWAG to all authors and writers who submit an entry. The winning story will be published in our eBook of the same title in March. Keep an eye out for the announcement of who won the contest in January.

As you can see, we continue to move forward and evolve with the times. We are loving the opportunities that are coming our way. Working with new writers and authors has been a blast!
In the midst of all of this we continue with email and newsletter campaigns, networking and social media marketing. We look forward to December and what it will bring to The Pyrateheart Press.

Keep watching us! We have great things coming!

Most people who tell others they are authors work independently from the requirements of corporations or even normal jobs. Their job is to create. To craft stories we want to read.

It’s a good question. One I have heard many times in my life. Usually after somebody does something no one approves of. Yet, regardless of the situation, the question remains the same. Do people change?

I have discovered many things recently. The very first is I love the bed and breakfast we stayed in for our anniversary. It is an inventive idea for a bed and breakfast type place. The rooms are actual cabooses. That’s right, railroad cabooses.
